PRF / PRP

PRP vs PRF — what is the difference?

Eva-Fatema · Cosmetic Nurse · March 2026

At Clinic Copenhagen in Amager, we offer both PRP and PRF treatments — and we often get the question: what is actually the difference? Both treatments use your own blood, but the way the blood is processed — and therefore the effect — differs.

The treatment itself

Both PRP and PRF start the same way: we take a blood sample, centrifuge the blood and then use your own blood for the treatment. It is a natural method that uses the body's own growth factors to stimulate renewal and healing in the skin or scalp.

PRP — Platelet-Rich Plasma

With PRP, the blood is centrifuged faster, producing a liquid plasma with rapid release of growth factors. It is ideal if you want a fresh glow — for example, ahead of a weekend or a special event.

PRF — Platelet-Rich Fibrin

PRF is the newer and more advanced version. Here the blood is centrifuged more slowly and without additives — it is 100% natural. The process creates a fibrin structure that gradually releases growth factors over a longer period. PRF is particularly well suited for hair growth stimulation.

Which should you choose?

The choice depends on your goal. If you want a quick refresh and glow in your skin, PRP may be the right choice. If your focus is on hair loss or long-term skin renewal, we recommend PRF.
